Meditation for December 30th

Every Year is a Capricorn

Tomorrow night, this year will shrivel up and die, and a new year will be born from the ashes, a Capricorn. If we look up at the stars, we will see that the year is in Capricorn. Once again.

This explains why history spirals in circles: the adoption of the modern Gregorian calendar, which sets the New Year to January 1st. We keep thinking that new policies, new laws, new philosophies, and trying to change our repetitive patterns will finally break these cycles, but we can’t, because we keep starting the new year on the same day, under the same stars.

Year in and year out, when the year is a Capricorn. This is why every year is an Earth year. Capricorn is an earth sign.

This is why every year has a cardinal red hue. This is why the Catholic Church remains a powerful force on the year’s timeline, even though it is way past its actual usefulness. The news keeps us up to date on whatever the Pope is saying and doing, and we have just thought to ourselves, why do we care what this asshole says?

This can be explaind by every year being dominated by the planet Saturn. This is a giant gas planet surrounded by rings. Status being the defining feature of most modern society makes the ringed planet dominating our civilizations make sense.

If years were born in other signs, this year would be compatible with Tauruses and Virgos, but every year is a Capricorn, so there is no other comparable year. This is why every year is similar, but not the same.

Every year is controlled, responsible, and loves micro-managing those living in that particular year. That is why daily planners are always best sellers at bookstores, and productivity apps for smartphones have become so popular. Like the planet Earth being a Taurus, our year is always a Capricorn.

Capricorns like to keep things traditional and straightforward. Trying to be a free spirit or break down the barriers of traditions to try new ways of life will make this year and all other Capricorn years against you. Don’t try to travel with just a backpack, try polyamory, or get your nose pierced.

Give a year, long enough, and it will start to hate you. Trying to last the year without it noticing you is the best policy. If this next year catches you, it will destroy you. Time doesn’t like people at all.

When trying to fall in love during a Capricorn year, which is every year, you will only have a long, serious relationship where you spend quality time together processing feelings and holding space for each other, changing boundaries centimeters at a time, and going to couples therapy. You will talk about taking up ballroom dancing, but no one will make that call, and one of you will doubt that is a real thing.

Getting a job during a Capricorn year, and like I said, every fucking year is a Capricorn year, means you will work hard for no to little compensation. You will keep thinking you are going to rise the corporate ladder, but you will get a lot more responsibilities for a few pennies more. You will find the work meaningless and money to be a bane to your existence, but if you want to keep existing, you still have to show up to work and try. Minimally try, but try nonetheless.

Welcome to a new year. It’s another Capricorn. Maybe it’s time to look at ot other months becoming the new New Year’s Day.

Living is a lot like insanity, you keep doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results.

Happy New Year.
