On January 11th, 2016, I started a daily practice of writing a joke meditation of the day called Cracked Pot Meditations. I was still recovering from the treatment of cancer, and I was having very challenging cognitive issues, so I chose just to put something simple and easy to write every day. Posting it to the blog allowed me to have some accountability. Some of those meditations were poorly written and unedited. I have gone back and begun editing these and adding an illustration, starting with the April 27th meditation. I hope you enjoy.

The first meditation was written in 2025, and the second meditation was originally written in 2016. I obviously ran out of time trying to figure out something to write, so I just did a hack job of today not existing, but I kept it below so you can see it.

Meditation for May 20th

People Won’t Read This

If you are reading this, you may be the only person. On Facebook, I have 967 friends, and the most reading daily meditation on a day is 5, which means only 0.5 of my friends are reading my writing. Don’t worry; I know it’s not me; people won’t read. They prefer video and audio media; if they have to read, it must be highly recommended, in a short, palatable form, like a list. That has to be written at an 8th-grade level for comprehension.

Like the thesis nailed to the church’s door by Martin Luther, allowing just anyone to access the internet with an 8th-grade reading comprehension is not going to go well, and so far, it hasn’t. Why do you think there are more flat-earthers, Holocaust deniers, and anti-vaccine advocates than before? Suddenly, everyone has what they believe is the same access to information as everyone else, including every day. Due to poor reading comprehension, they can argue with the experts.

Nothing says someone is an idiot than when they say they are just saying what they are saying for the sake of argument or to cast a light on both sides of something that only has one side – the truth. They are parsing one or two TikTok videos as the whole truth of an entire subject that requires some eight years to be recognized as an expert in their field, and more to be the top of that group. We’ve got men armed with Joe Rogan Podcasts going up against doctors to prove the doctors are wrong. The men won’t read anything to get the basis of their belief, just a one-hour interview.

It’s not just the words creating a fact; it is the ability to critically think about the words written, the comprehension required to understand, and the skill of knowing how to research at a library for more information. When we are trying to figure out why or how, it isn’t an easy question to answer, and it requires intellectual finesse that can only be learned by lots of reading. Wikipedia might sometimes be suspect, but it at least shows its bibliography of references for the information in the article. Want to prove it wrong or right? Read the books.

Prayer

Quetzalcoatl,

Serpent God of Knowledge,

I know you are a tough god to choose for this prayer,

Your likeness was confused when Cortez landed in 1519.

One belief allowed another’s belief to destroy the other.

And yes, one belief was based on a book,

But the knowledge and stories were dispersed by priests,

And the church and state kept the people in ignorant darkness,

Now we face this same issue today,

The Church and State want to keep us in governable ignorance.

Either by the mythological dogma of the Church,

Or the restrictions on books by the State,

Which is being run by the Church.

Someday we might forget our knowledge,

And because of myth,

We will confuse a conquistador for a messiah.

Amen

Craft

Just read a book. Put the phone down, close the computer, shut down the TV, and pick up a book. It doesn’t have to be complicated, but read. Before becoming an expert on anything, read the primary references.

And before you tell me you don’t read because of ADHD or the like, reading literally helps with those symptoms.

Goal

To have knowledge of the gods. The fruit of the tree in the Garden of Eden was knowledge, which is in the written word.

Meditation for May 21st, 2016

May 20th Did Not Exist

This year, to make up for the Leap Year, May 20th was skipped. You thought you were living through the 20th. You might have been scheduled to work on the 20th, and you may have even shown up for your scheduled shift at work, but it didn’t happen.

It was the Blue Full Moon. This just means that the blue hue that radiated from the moon kept all of you fast asleep. You just dreamt that yesterday happened.

This is why there was no meditation yesterday. Yesterday didn’t exist. It was an illusion. You were already in a deep trance under the Blue Moon’s old Magiks.

Prayer

Moon,

Help me to understand that nothing is real.

This is all an illusion.

Nothing is really happening.

This is just light bending and creating a reality.

You don’t have to put up such a fight.

None of this is real.

You can create your own reality.

Just try.

Inception.

Amen.

Craft

You try to do a meditation every day! DON’T JUDGE ME!

Goal

Stop pretending everything is real. Even your pain isn’t real.
