The Magiks of Trees

Trees hold a lot of power within them and it is no wonder that a forest holds so much magical energies within its dark canopies.

Different trees hold different kinds of magic. Some you can feel just by standing under the branches, while others need to be shaped and crafted to harness the power.

Alder

This is a great wood for wands. This is the kind of wood witches prefer. If the very fabric of reality becomes thin and starts tearing because some mad scientist slips between multiverses to kidnap a son that died in his world so that he can save the other one and make his wife happy, then get near an alder tree because alder trees resist interplanal shenanigans.

Apple

Of course plucking an apple right from the tree is magic in its self, the apple tree also has other properties. Performing any kind of fae magic will require apple wood. This is also good to use in vision magic or to stabilize the universe from war and pestilence.

Ash

An ash wood wand is favored by the old wizen wizards you see in Safeways at 2am in their scooters buying sausages, cat food, and club soda. Ash is also great for any maritime magiks or protection. The sea hates man, so get a lot of ash if you spend any time out on her waves.

Basswood

This is a great piece of wood to have around if you are creating anything. Basswood is more rare, so it can either be more powerful or less so depending on your magical level.

Beech

This is the preferred wood for diviners. This is also the wand you will need as a warlock, for the beech is a masculine tree. Any kind of searching, finding, locating magic will need the beech to help divine the spot.

Birch

This the wood to use for any kind of cleansing ceremonies. The world is dirty, and the kind is even dirtier, so getting a birch wand will help morality to return. Birch will also help expel evil spirits.

Cedar

This is the most ceremonial of all the wood. The boughs create the most spiritual smell and the bark can be made into tea for digesting sacred magics. Cedar is perfect for making a boundary around a sacred place. Usually helpful nature spirits reside in or near cedars.

Cherry

Cherry wands are the best for any beginning magic user. It can be used to channel most kinds of magic, it isn’t gender specific, and even the most unmagically gifted can get a little spark out of a cherry wand. Very helpful for erotic magiks.

Elder

The elder wood is best used for magical banishment. Just know that the astral planes are just outside the confines of our time and space lines, so they may watch you for what seems like eternity your life, so if they come back to your present reality, they may find revenge a reasonable goal. Elder is also used for fae magiks.

Elm

This is bringing dreams into real life to help stay healthy and protected by dream hijacking. Elm is also a great symbol of the most ancient feminine power that ever existed. Each elm tree is a totem for the witches that help light the way for man.

Hawthorne

The hawthorne is a great wood for psychic and charm magics. Wearing a crown of hawthorne will keep people from snooping in your thoughts. The hawthorne is also the most powerful of the woods for magic wands. Weather changing, banishments, complete changed to reality are all within the abilities of the hawthorne. Some say that the hawthorne tree isn’t even native to this plane of existence.

Hazel

This is the wand people use who want to have things pop into their hands. The hazel wand is most famous for being in any Disney movie about magic users who use wands.

Hickory

Old hickory wood has quite a lot of magic left. This is a great wood for “building” the ideal reality you want. This is not for the selfish, nor should evil learn how to use hickory wood.

Honey Locust

This fae infused wood helps protect fae gateways and also is used to make one look young and beautiful. This is the wood that is sought by liches to create a living self. If you see honey locust trees, you are near a fae doorway.

Holly

Even with the representation for Christmas, the holly actually is used to help with logic, reality, rational thought, and was heavily used in the Age of Enlightenment. Holly also is used for any bringing the dead back to life, reincarnation, and the resting of ghosts. Holly wands are the weapons of choice for those that seek revenge.

Ivy

Ivy is the wood used for those that want their hand at magic way beyond their abilities or talent. Ivy is an add on. Use your main wooden wand and ivy to try and make that spell work.

Lilac

The lilac tree is the home of the nymphs. This wood is for all your love spells. Careful though, if you use the lilac wand too much, Pan will hear you and chase you around like Pepe LePew.

Maple

This is a strong healing wood. This also a great wood for travelers. Gypsies use maple for their carts to ward off danger and evil spirits. Magic that tries for abundance can be helped tremendously with maple wood.

Oak

While the cedar is the most ceremonial wood, the oak is the most sacred. Oak trees are sacred safe places do all who shelter under her branches. Oak serves as a guide into the otherworlds, a marker for old sacred spots, and a reminder to all who seeks, that the earth is old and we will never know what used to be known. Oak wands are better for getting one ready for deep magic. It clears the mind, focuses our intentions, and strengthen our psyche.

Osage Orange

If you want a journey through other planes of existence or through our dream world, this is the wood we would use. This wood is also great for mending weak spots in the reality fabric.

Poplar

This shallow rooted tree’s wood is great for evocation magic. Turning people into frogs is what this simple wand is made for. When Merlin and Madam Mim get into a magic duel turning themselves j to different things, the poplar wand was what they were using.

Sassafras

This is a great wood for sleeping issues and digestive issues. Bury money within the roots of a sassafras tree and you will find prosperity.

Vine

This is the wood used for very good magic. Only making things happy and joyful is the purpose of vine wood. Have it around new babies and puppies for good luck.

Black Walnut

This is a very powerful wood for making a wand. This is used for teleportation magiks. This also used for traveling through multiverses, realities, and planes with ease. Some can use black walnut wood to change the weather.

Willow

This is the wood of choice for necromancy. Burning willow will help guide souls to their final resting place. Zombies are made using willow. The willow is very powerful and will ask a lot from its user. The more you use the willow wand, the more the willow wand has power over you until you will one day be at he mercy of that squiggly stick in your hand. Willow in control of a person only wants one thing, the complete annihilation of man kind. So before you decide to dabble in the black arts, be careful and read all the warnings.
